REPAIR & REFURBISHMENT OF PORT EQUIPMENT : TRIPOLI PORT, LIBYA

OPM was engaged by Socialist Port Company (SPC) in October 2009 to provide for the fast repair and refurbishment of all major port handling equipment at Tripoli Port. The objective was to improve the productivity and efficiency of the port by increasing equipment availability. The machines for repair and refurbishment works include:

• Reach stackers
• Empty stackers and Side-lifts
• Mobile cranes
• Tractors
• Forklift of various capacities

OPM’s scope of work for this engineering project:

• Thorough evaluation of malfunctioning equipment
• Provision of skilled engineering staff to conduct the physical repair and refurbishment on site
• Procurement of spare parts required for the repair and refurbishment works
• Procurement of workshop tools and equipment
• Conduct training for local engineering staff
• Recommendation for the establishment of a engineering and maintenance department
• Maintenance planning and scheduling
• Review workshop facilities and tools availability
• Inventory management of spare parts, including performance indicator management
• Evaluate performance indicators of port equipment
