SRCT 1

PROJECT MANAGEMENT of SHAHID RAJAEE CONTAINER TERMINAL 1, BANDAS ABBAS, IRAN
MAY 2006 TO NOVEMBER 2007

tc_srct1OPM was appointed by Tidewater Marine Services Company, as Project Managers of Shahid Rajaee Container Terminal 1 (SRCT1) to achieve improvements in terminal operation efficiency and terminal handling capacity, as well as to review and introduce newer technology for their in-house Terminal Operating System (TOS). OPM has done these with outstanding efficiency.

The Project Management Team made recommendations covering a vast array of Terminal Management activities including Organisation Structure, Operational Processes, Berth, Stowage & Yard Planning Processes, Control Centre Monitoring System, Engineering Maintenance & Repair, Information Technology, Manpower Allocation and Deployment, Contractor Management, Training and Safety, Terminal Layout and Traffic Flow, Requirements of a Port Training Department, amongst others to increase the overall productivity of SRCT1.

Recommendations were subsequently jointly implemented  by OPM and Tidewater managers & staff to yield positive results in terminal productivity. Moreover, terminal capacity was expanded by more than 50%, curbing the anticipated congestion brought about by the double digit growth rate of the terminal due to the delay in the commissioning of Shahid Rajaee Container Terminal 2. Based on results achieved from this project management, Tidewater management appointed OPM as Executive Terminal Managers of the new Shahid Rajaee Container Terminal 2 to manage the terminal for 5 years.

OPM’s ACHIEVEMENT

  • Restructuring of SRCT1 operations to international standards
  • Expand terminal capacity up to 2 million TEUs from 1.3 million TEU’s (2005)
  • Attract new shipping lines to call at SRCT through improved vessel productivity
  • Enhance terminal operations system via information technology
  • Paved the way to transform SRCT1 into a more vibrant transhipment and transit hub
